Booby eyes !

Folks
If I want to make booby eyes from blocks of plastozote are there professional tools available to cut them out ?
Or have I to mackle some up ?

Get an old car aerial and cut tube to the diameter you require then file it slightly to greate an edge, not much, then stick in a cordless drill, i find if you drill at full speed but don't push through too quickly you get a smoother tube, ian

I would second the car aerial idea, you either get one from a scrap yard or off eBay, I used a hook sharpener to put an edge and then just twist throughout the plastazote , the more you twist the smoother the edge. I don' t use a drill but i' m sure it would work. The advantage of the aerial is that you get several diameters of tube to use.

Does the core of plasto go up inside the ariel or stay in the block?

What is the length of the piece of ariel in the drill chuck?

Yes the foam stays within the cutter but comes out easily with your finger nails! i cut my cutter to two and a half inches as i was using a drill, it works a treat, send me your address and i'll send some samples to show how well they turn out, ian

I use the ariel as well.

I bought a set of hollow punches on ebay. When sharpened up a bit they are great. The eyes come out trough the side and you can cut them anything between 2.5 and 10 mm.8pc HOLLOW PUNCH SET 2.5 - 9mm HOLE PUNCHES CARD | eBay

I came across some old pieces of split cane rods at a car boot sale, I bought them and I cut off the female ferrules which are made of brass and after filing round the edges ended up with four cutters of different diameters I just slowly twist them through the plastazote block and presto booby eye at the size I require. A rub every now and then with fine emery paper keeps the sharp edge on them. I never thought of using a drill gun but I will now.
