Default Best hair for small trebles?

Hi All..........I'm starting to tie some small salmon flies on size 12 or 14 trebles. The flies are of the Willie Gun or Cascade type. I've seen (and bought) these in the shops and want to copy them. The big question is, what is the best hair to use and who is the most consistent supplier. I think the quality of the hair must be very important in such small flies ? I know stoat and squirrel OK but these flies use a "crinkly" hair which I can't identify. I have used bucktail for larger flies....can you get fine bucktail.....all advice appreciated Thanks

Sorry, but bucktail is never really going to be fine enough for those hook sizes/types. It may be calf tail they've used if it's fine & crinkly, any chance of a close-up pic ?

Icelandic dressers use long 'Artic Runner' hair for the tiny #14 and #16 silver trebles popular there. Its quite a soft local horsehair. Even softer, and very easy to use, is what is sold as 'Dog Racoon' by some. N.B. Don't ask.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far......I sent off for some "Arctic runner" to see how that goes....I'm sure it wont be wasted no matter what Artic fox had interested me, but there are so many "fox types" I was a bit confused I'll maybe have to try some of it as well

Sounds like calf tail hair to me, if you type in crazy charlie into google, it will come up with a saltwater pattern which uses calf hair this may help you to ident the hair.
