Is it anything like the glitter thread I bought in Altrincham Market a while ago? Makes nice shiny bodies and not too expensive.

I would like to put it on here but i have just figured out how to get the dvd player to work Dont know if it is the same stuff as you bought flytyer 07 but this stuff is man made and as tough as old boots.you could also use it as follows
hook b100 [with tungsten bead]
thread to suit
put a layer of black floss on the hook use the holloshimmer as a rib, thorax ice dub varnish /superglue abdomen the combinations are endless.

Hi Horses50

This thread looks very interesting. I might give it a go next time I'm in a haberdashery shop.

Nice stuff, bit fragile. I give bodies a dollop of BugBond nowadays. For those who don't know what it looks like, you can see some here

bk i picked this up because i had never seen anything that small and flat and being 100% man made it aint going to rot.I am going to fiddle about a bit more with it but i am sure i can get a segmented body as good as you would if useing a stripped peacock quill and it will be a bit more robust.I dont know how difficult it will be to get hold because i dont think all fabric shops stock it but i am going to america next year and i know jo-anns stock it so i will get what i need .

I love the stuff, (Sulky Holoshimmer) great for ribbing and bodies for micro flies.

The holoshimmer, i dont know if it comes in black so i got the promarker out gave the stuff i have a good coat of black just tyed an abdomen with it to try and get the segmented look i was after and it worked a treat.Put down a layer of olive thread on a b175 and gave it 2 ribs, one with the holloshimmer and one with gold wire,i put the gold wire on the back edge of the holloshimmer,i now need to get some really fine gold wire cos the stuff i used was a bit big but the effect was there.I like the look of flies tied with quill but i was after something that would be a bit more durable, time will tell.
