got me some CDC

heres a few of my first tyings with CDC.

ive been told that shuttlecock and f fly dresseings should be pretty simple. are these a wee bit simple?







im thinking about adding some ribbing but like i say these are my first attempts.

They should do nicely Bob. Rib with fine pearl lurex on the buzzers, will need some varnish over top to stop lurex snapping and unravelling on trouts teeth.

I would try to lower the wing a bit on the f-fly Bob, but apart from that they look good

im planning on adding a rib material on my next batch. im just trying to get used to working with the CDC feathers and tying on size 14s. i used to think i had pretty good eye sight before i started this fly tying mularkey

You could try a pair of reading glasses from Poundworld for the small flies.

Yes definately. For normal reading I am ok with 2x but keep a pair of 3x for tying. I went to an optician for a test last year and asked are the £1.00 glasses ok to use. He said so long as you can see ok then no problem whatsoever.

Tip: When you find the strength that suits you buy two or three pairs cos when you go back for more they will not have any!

As been stated, a fine wire rib for sparkle and a coat of varnish would do it for me.

the CDC flies look good. i have just started tying with CDC so this thread is very useful.
