Default Anyone recommend Hair tying book?

As above. Just got into tying with Elk and Deer hair. Anyone recommend a good reference book, preferably with plenty of patterns to try?

Getting a bit bored tying Balloon Caddis, any suggestions for other 'hair' patterns? Got any favourites?

Any help much appreciated-thanks.

Chris.

Sorry don't know of any specific books but some Deer/Elk hair patterns in my fly box include:
Adams Irresistible (or something very similar e.g. Rat Faced McDougal)
Goddard Sedge
Muddler Minnows
Dave's Hopper (good terrestrial)

There are also lots of deer hair Bass bugs that I use for Small & Largemouth Bass in the US, but I digress...

Thanks for that A. Adams Irresistable sounds good, I'll look into that. Seems there are no specific hair tying books in the UK. Just spoke to Phil at FTB and he thinks he knows a man in the US who may have written a couple.

Maybe there are not enough patterns to warrant a book. I can't seem to find any . Really interesting to tie with though.

Chris.

Off the top of my head....
CDC and Elk
DHE
Clark's Cicada (NZ patern but works great for chub!)
dog biscuit fly

Google some SBS's and there will be plenty to keep you busy!

Cheers

If it's a book you're after, it's probably going to be an American one so patterns may not always be applicable to UK.

AK Best's 'Production Fly-tying' is rather specialist but has some nice patterns.

Jack Pangburn's 'Deer Hair Fly-tying Guidebook' is the most comprehensive book I've ever read on the subject Get it for less than a tenner on Amazon or if you're a skinflint, Google it and read for free on Slideshare (sorry, can't embed a link)

The Humpy and/or the Double Humpy.
Beetle with clipped, black deerhair body.
Bullet Caddis/Sedge
Comparadun
Sedgehog
Half Hog
Stimulator

If you Google some of these it is more than likely that some of Mr Mc Phails vids on youtube will crop up.
