Default Stripped Quill

I'm having trouble trying to fill a body with touching turns of stripped quill on the larger sizes, I find that the well defined quills are too short and I can only tie like this:

That's with the Fly Box bleached quill. Any pointers?

Thanks.

Peacock Quill I find very fiddly and delicate. I'm fortunate to have friends in america who raise birds and send me choice eyes from time to time, but as long as you take from the eyed part you should be okay, though they still can be damned annoying and break just as you're getting ready to secure it. If any more experienced forumites know better please help?

Yep they are contrary. I put a very thin smear of superglue along the shank and leave to dry for 2-3 mins then gently wrap on. Seems to make them behave.

Chris.

Bear,

There is nothing wrong with that buzzer at all, looks perfect, if you use the longer quills then it does help to dampen them, use your mouth and get them damp, let it soak in a little bit and this should make them a little more pliable and easier to wrap.

Use stripped peacock eye quills.

Chris

I prefer the ones that have been done in bleach for that nice subtle taste
