Hi. Iam having probs with the green Peter roof wings. I seen Rod Tye do it with hen pheasant body feathers but it's been a while ago. Can any one help?

Welcome to the forum, Orca.

Not tried it with body feathers. As with most things, I copy Davie McPhail:

Found tail feather difficult to work with. I use two slips fromopposing wing feathers. Make one slip about half as wide again as the other and then lay them on top of each other on the hook. Should give you a good tented effect

The trick to it is not taking to wide a slip, a piece 3-4mm wide on a size 10 -12 is plenty and ties in with a pinch and loop much easier than a wide slip.

Haven't looked but there must be a you tube video to watch.

I've been tying RT Green Peters for Mask next week, although I'm hoping not to use them!

My boat partner ties 'em with bronze mallard wings, he out-fished me 2:1 for seatrout on the loughs last season when I used the regular wing

Hi Orca

Best way is to use wing primary feathers and fold them, fold into centre and then double this gives a thicker wing with a tented shape.
