If they truly are sacrificial, I'd do two things - use lead instead (cheaper) and load it onto the top of the hookshank. Your hook will then drift hook point up - less snags, less losses, and when it does get jammed in a log, you've not lost an expensive bead.
I use roofing lead, cut into small strips with scissors, then shape it with some pliers - makes a nice underbody - just whip it on, dub and rib over the top - perfect caddis, or stonefly nymph depending on size and colour.
