What purpose are you using CDC for? Is it to make the fly float?

You could try snowshoe . See here....Fly Tying Materials / Snowshoe Rabbit's Feet -- Orvis UK

I have been messing around with the stuff recenty and have found Bob Wyatts snowshoe emerger a great wee pattern. No reason why it wouldn't work for f-flys and shuttllecocks.
cdc is a luv hate thing with me. I get alot of fish on yellow owls but i spend a big part of my day trying to keep them afloat.
An amadou patch and a bottle of silica based floatant eg. frogs fanny will see you ok.

Hope this helps.

No worries. I was shown the material by a very good tyer up here in Aberdeen at a river Don show. He was tying it in as the wing posts on klinks so that could be an option for you too.

Here's Bob Wyatts pattern....North Country Angler: Some thoughts on Bob Wyatt and Snowshoe Hare.

very easy tie (which suits me) and i've had some good success on it this year.

snowshoe hare certainly works you could also use foam or if all else fails a bubble float
