Alternative to CDC feathers

Is there a good alternative to cdc feathers or are they the best option?.

I have been messing around with the stuff recenty and have found Bob Wyatts snowshoe emerger a great wee pattern. No reason why it wouldn't work for f-flys and shuttllecocks.
cdc is a luv hate thing with me. I get alot of fish on yellow owls but i spend a big part of my day trying to keep them afloat.
An amadou patch and a bottle of silica based floatant eg. frogs fanny will see you ok.

No worries. I was shown the material by a very good tyer up here in Aberdeen at a river Don show. He was tying it in as the wing posts on klinks so that could be an option for you too.

snowshoe hare certainly works you could also use foam or if all else fails a bubble float
