Default Caddis Emerger - Help needed

Hi all

Thankfully the sedges are still flying well in Munster, but whilst i've had some success with the excellent CDC and Elk, i'm looking for something to imitate those sedges...something that will sit in the surface, because some of the rivers i fish are too shallow to fish a "sink and draw" type of style.

I am knocking up a few more Loop wings but would prefer something that sits that bit lower, or even just under the surface.

I guess a Klink is as good as any ?

Suggestions?

CF Walker's hatching sedge. primarily a still water pattern but should work on rivers too.

That could be very interesting ....tks. Does La Fontaine's hang with the hook bend towards the river botton ? Assume so? ie doesnt emerge at an angle?

The emerger seems to work either on a dry fly hook fished in the film with only a little floatant on the deer hair, or on a caddis-pupa curved hook fished same. The original design was for faster Western US streams, and I would definitely tie using a curved pupa hook for slower waters, to improve the angle. You know your waters best. It is a great fly that is easy to tie and sits low. Much more difficult to see than a Klink. I always have both in my box for the caddis emerger.

Tried it ....not the easiest fly to tie....the bubble is a bit awkward.

Any tips, or other sedge emerger ( river ) patterns.

I do like the look of this one though ....practice needed, but tips appreciated.
