Good luck
I think we all have certain flies that we try and they may catch sporadically during a hatch but nothing that is a dead cert.

I've just proof-read an article for a mate on Caenis fishing which will be in Irish Angler next month, bit late for this season but full of good info, patterns and tips for next season

This may be a case of where size matters...... Richardw has a very cunning approach to the caenis hatch i.e create an impression of the raft and not the individual fly on his blog using a well-chewed double badger. Worth a try. Here's a link

Post Re: The Curse

I go with the raft idea, a size 14 white muddler twitched slowly in the calm water that caenis are hatching in has taken a few fish for me.

Or a big feckk off zonker ripped through the rings!!!!!!!!!!!
Not exactly matching the hatch, but hooks a few

I have had a little success with a #16 nymph fished just before the main hatch.
Just a simple white nymph with a twist of peacock at the head.

My most succesful fly during a caenis hatch is a Hutch's pennell no idea why but it seems to catch a few.

Sorry Hugh I must learn to read the thread through before replying as a late comer to the original post...
