Default Hares Ear Emerger

After a 15 year "raising family" break from fishing/tying, I have returned to both .
One of my go to flies when all was quiet was this pattern and it always seemed to rise a fish or two. Sure enough on my first visit back to my local loch, it raised a few fish when all other flies were being ignored.
All comments gratefully accepted (but be kind, I've been out of practise for 15 years!!)
Hook - I use all kinds, Kamasan B400, B175
Thread - red
Butt - red seals fur
Rib - red holographic tinsel fine (used to be pearl tinsel)
body - hares ear
wing - pinch deer hair with a few strands of pearl krystal flash
thorax - hares ear
hackle - red game (clipped underneath so fly sits low in the water)
After applying Gink to the hackle and the deer hair, I just leave the fly sit still and let the trout find the fly. The takes are usually good and the fish can hook themselves.

Hi Jetta

It sounds interesting but I can't really see it. When uploading a photo from picassa the default size is "Thumbnail". You need to select a larger size. (I assume that it will be pretty much the same for photobucket or whatever you use.

regards

bill

Hi Bill, sorry about that - it was late last night. Should have taken time to check photo size. Anyway, that should be it now.
John.

I like it, John.

I wouldn't mind trying that as a sedge pattern, late in the evening.
