Default The Cutt Bug and P.I.T.A. Popper -- Sea Run Cutthroat Trout

Here is a pattern to share that has been working wonders for me for rising cutthroat trout in saltwater. Being able to spot-cast to feeding cutthroat is an absolute blast and I find even the non-successful hookups as a cutthroat's short sited rise to be half as exhilarating as the successful hookups.

Anyways... enough babbling. All things consider'd, it's really just a sized down buck bug with a red and gold krystal flash tail. Important thing is---it works.

Recipe and mandatory fish porn below:

The Cutt-Bug

Hook: Tiemco 100 – Size 8
Thread: UTC 140 6/0
Tail: Red and Gold Krystal Flash (3 strands of each)
Body: Yellow Deerhair (2 Clumps), Natural Deerhair (1 Clump)
Hackle: Burnt Orange Grizzly

and it's rubber legged, turks tarantula inspired variant, same as recipe above--the P.I.T.A (Pain in the ass) popper.

an american guy andy was using these a few years back.. swears by them!
he even swapped a load and the rubber legged version for a rod and reel they was doing that well..
i got a few patterns similar in the smaller sizes and they do work a treat..

well done mate, nice fish

People on the east coast of Canada fish them for Atlantic Salmon, and they are also "skated" and dead drifted for steelhead, brown and rainbow trout on moving water out on the west coast here.

I like to tie them over bombers mainly because tying in the front and rear wing of a bomber gives me nightmares! Call it I.B.S. if you will---Irritable Bomber Syndrom ha ha ha.
