Default Would this work?

I am looking for better storage for my tying gear. I have a lot of gear and reckon this would be just the ticket, especially as I might need to transport it all on a regular basis now.

Stanley FatMax Lock and Stock - Machine Mart

Your thoughts?

Cheers,
Tam

Seems expensive for what it is...

I have one of these

Mobile Tool Box, 0000005287154

Plenty of storage space, but you may need to buy some small boxes for individual storage inside

I use one of these,

B&Q Mobile Tool Chest, 1-92-703

Mine is the Stanley version and I paid less than half this price!

I use plastic zip sleeves to keep everything tidy.

Sadly the box is still not big enough and despite my best efforts its not tidy!

Cheers

Andy

I do like the seperate drawers on the one I posted. I know it's not cheap but it should last the rest of my life. I prefer drawers to trays and just a big box type thing

When I started tying around 10 years ago, I used DIY tool boxes but as I went through a progressive range of them (I've got loads in the garage now!) I discovered shortcomings to each one.

I finally settled upon the Stonefly Tying Bag which holds loads of stuff, comes with some plastic boxes for threads etc and a file-type pouch with ziplock bags.

All my overflow material is boxed in "Really Useful" range of stacking boxes from Staples - these are a range of boxes that stack on top, have clip-lock lids and are incredibly strong. They are very well priced, a 4L A4 size box (about the size of a 500 sheet pack of A4 paper) is less than a fiver!

There is also available 2 types of divider tray that fits any of the boxes that have an A4 "footprint" allowing for holding hooks, tools, threads etc.

All the best

Darrell

If your going to spend good money consider metal tool chest (or is rust an issues). Lots of drawers.

I would buy a selection of "Really Useful boxes"
They come in all sizes and will hold anything from a spool of thread to a full leangth peacock tail feather. I have about 40 of the large ones and loads of smaller ones, (I know my collection of materials is excessive ) They are strong, I've only broken one lid by treading on it in shoes, they are airtight and moth proof and being clear you can see what's in them. Now by colour coding the boxes as well, you can easily arrange your materials so that everything is in its place.

I get mine from Hobbycraft but have ordered directly from the factory on occasion, they do next day delivery for a very reasonable price and you get the exact colours and sizes you need.

Cheers
