Default The Reverend Mother

A nice double-team article from Roger Beck (words) and Stephen Cheetham (fly-tying) about the Reverend Mother.

I think it best to get the confession bit over quickly, particularly considering the subject of our column this month. I need to have my soul well and truly cleansed before we embark upon this particular venture. So, here goes.

I reckon that fly denotes the Order of Mercy Nuns--a formidable bunch---like the fly! I worked in a hospital once which before it joined the NHS was staffed by that Order. One ran the place the others were nurses. All ex army QA's and 2nd world war vintage.
When it joined the NHS they replaced the Rev Mother with TAKE A GUESS 27 administrators. She was a Matron. No bloody hospital bugs on her watch.
Think I will tie up a few of those flies.
By the way Leonard Cohen has a song entitled Sisters of Mercy and it is about nuns in Montreal I think.
The link was fine Ed Thanks

Here's the fly I was shown as a Rev Mother. This one's a bit chewed, caught some Connemara seatrout on this one last season. I'll tie up a decent one and post later
