Hello all
Ive decided to start tying my own dries, after losing to many.....Parachute Minnikin's Paradun - Sportfish This is the fly id like to copy(ive been using it as a BWO.I know i need poly yarn or Aero Dry Wing for the post, micro fibbets for the backside and i can find out what hooks, but the hackle and body i have no idea.Could you please tell me what i need and if possible, link them for me so i know where to find them....much appreciated.......cheers

Hi
For the hook I would use partridge SLD sizes #18 or #20
For the hackle a dun or white would suit the job and for the dubbing I would use orvis spectrablend or any other fine dry fly dubbing dyed golden olive
I'm new-ish though to fly tying so someone else will probably have a much better suggestion!

on smaller sized hook, just thread would work just as well and wouldnt be that noticable! or at least I dont think so, as long as youre happy enough
Whiting Hackle Styles and Color Chart
look at these hackles and see which best suits for you're grey hackle! these are going to be expensive though so you might want to just eBay 'grey' hackles but as with everything else in life, you get what you pay for!

you can if you want mate.. iv got a few patterns with just thread body but best best to have a small dubbed thorax to tidy the post and hackle tie off.
yeh grey hackles fine, its cock neck hackle or a short fibred saddle hackle..
