Steelhead Rats

I was looking through the Chris Mann, Hairwing and tube flies for Salmon, the Mike Brooks steelhead rats caught my eye(Page 123) so I tied a variant of these and I think they have come out ok.

Dressing.

Hook to suit, I have used Size 9 Salars
Thread 8/0 black
Tag - Gold Holo
Tail - Red Floss
Rear Body - Red Holo (or to suit)
Front Body - Peacock glister dub
Rib - Gold Wire
Wing - Squirrel tail (dyed if you want)
Hackle - I have used a dyed whiting hen cape

I really like these and to be honest they would work for trout as well as salmon, really nice tying.
