Question Dabbler question?

Any thoughts on the best way to tie in the mallard?
I usually tie it in first then fold it back before finishing the head, but most of the tying videos, (including Dave Downie), tie it in at the end.
What are pros and cons of each approach?

Billy

if you want a wing then rolling the wing is one way or cut 2 slips place them side by side then pinch and loop technique to tye in, or you can cloack the fly by rolling the fibres with the thread and finger to encourage it round..

I roll it at the end in the same way that Macphail does but some seem to put it in bits at a time.

If you ut it on in sections, your head buls but you get a better cloak and if you fold it back then ae he head, the mallard doesn't sit right.
