Default First cdc ties

Here are my first efforts using cdc. Hardest bit for me is keeping the feathers together when going to tie em on, they sure like moving around . Anyone else have this problem or an easy fix? Comments welcome...

Chris.

Personally I think the third one is spot on for proportions Chris and a very nice looking fly, get them all like that and your'e breezing, but the rest are also good efforts and not easy to du anyway.

Thanks for the feedback chaps. I see what you are both saying and appreciate your comments.

You both mention proportions, perhaps I should explain about pic/fly 1 and 2.
I have seen a fly on 'buzzflyfishing-Trout and Grayling Dries and Emergers for sale'. It is called Spot on Dun. If you do a search the post is on here. I really really like that fly, it is tied very short. I am trying (badly) to create something like that. Looks simple enough but I still can't get the proportions anywhere near right. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a few .

Very nice indeed , as for the proportions ? some days they like em fat other days thin so I would'nt worry bout that too much just try em both .

Good stuff. The fourth is my favourite.

I too find CDC a bit of a pain to tie with. I rely on lots of wax on the thread, just a couple of turns to hold it on, then trim the waste ends in a taper and bind those down. Even so, bulk can be a problem.

This one has done well for me:

some nice tye's there mate other than proportion, i tie wings a little longer than the hook length for good measure, and slender the bodys
you have cut down on the dubbing alot i remember your flys with bodys 3 times what they are..

Thanks for the link Neil. Looks good, going to do a few tonight.

Thanks all for your comments. emerger1981 is right, I was forever over-dubbing my flys. Still have to keep an eye on it. Use half what you think then cut in half again.

Cheers

Chris.
