Default Purple dun

Another traditional pattern, the purple dun, mine's slightly different to the original which uses purple mohair or wool, whereas I've used purple thread and waterrat but it just needs to be slightly less dubbed to show the purple thread through it. tied on a size 14.

Like it. Don't often see purple used these days.

Thanks sarg, no purple is not used that much apart from a few spider patterns that use it, snipe and purple, purple henthorn spider, dark watchett etc and a few traditional wetfly patterns. It's a strong colour so its maybe preferable to understate it.

I see your point, but sometimes i like to give trout something they ain't seen before and you never know catch a few on it. I don't think it'd be a colour to bag up on regulary, but that day when all else fails bring out the most purple fly you got and scare em out lol

The purple head really stands out on this pattern. Looks very nice indeed.
