Default Broughton's point

Thought I'd have a go at some traditionals for a change from some of my more wackier creations. So starting with broughton's point an eloquent and simple but effective wet. I've used a mix of claret and black cock hackles for the throat instead of black and scarlet on the original to match the claret thread, why else. tied on a size 14.

Thanks for looking and all comments welcome

I really hate you now!

That is another stunning fly, have you got an online gallery that can be viewed, Mark?

Another great wing from the wingman! You are providing a clear definition of the best. Awesome.

Mark, unless you've put the photobucket flies in a special gallery you don't need to publicize your password. To gain access to a standard site, all you need is the name of the site, i.e. mine is arkle_photos, to get to it you go to search , then people & enter the site name.

I tied up some "Broughton's" a few years ago, & found there are quite a few variations of it. All have a grey mallard wing though, but body colours are anything from deep claret to pale blue, with either matching or contrasting hackles. A true Lake District pattern, that's proven it's worth many times over.

Thanks arkle, I know how to get into photobucket myself but wasn't sure how other people could get in, my handle is wingman64 so I assume thats all you would need. thanks for the info, my broughton's point uses starling for the wings by the way.

Hi Mark, yes it is or was rather starling for the original, but my customer wanted them on 10's & starling's a bit to small & delicate for that size.
