Default International Guage for competition flies

Saw Davie McPhail last night tying the International Hopper and he flashed up a guage printed on it the borders into which a fly must sit to be eligible for the competitions.
The way things are going here in Ireland is that I think this will be introduced soon. (Was in a wee local fun competition last week and one guy proudly announced at the lunch that he had 2 rods mounted alternating between wets and dries. Told everyone he didnt read the rules) A lot of dosh is involved now in competitions here.
Anybody any idea where I get my hands on one of these guages?
Thanks

Again, a subject for/of which I don't know piddly-squat. But are the "rules" aimed at the size of the hook or the size of the fly?

Well that's me screwed
Most of my flys are shall we say a bit on the large side
I've just looked at the tool and. It's about the same size as my zonkers so I should be all right
So long as they ain't got to fit through the hole in the tool

Think I better try and get one just in case

I think you will find that the gauge for flies in matches in Ireland are larger than on the mainland (taking the mayflies into account). I have one and I think the total length is 1 1/2" as opposed to 15/16" here. Hope I hane not opened the usual can of worms.

Another 'education;' Sweet J .. sound like the folks who dream this stuff up have far too much free time on their hands.
