Default First Fly Post - WD40 Variant

Took the plunge and finally posted a tying.
It's a variant of the WD40 midge pattern by Mark Engler, although this one looks more of a nymph than a midge.

The quills are from Lucian.

Nice ties Tony, I especially like the bodies and the small mohican is a nice touch. If I were to be picky the tails are a bit to long for me, otherwise spot on matey.

Chris.

The quill gives a nice effect to the body

I agree with you Chris, they are bit too long.

Yes I must get some wood duck. Got the pattern from Ed Engles book 'Tying Small Flies' who substitutes mallard flank for the wood duck.

I've tied them down to size 24 but with thread bodies. I have had great success with these quill bodied ones, so far proving to be better than my old favourite the PTN.

Many thanks for the comments, it's much appreciated, you guys are the experience I gain from.

Cheers
Tony
