The snipe and starling and grouse will definitely do for a few spiders hobble, not sure about t'others though think there's a macaw dabbler that uses the wing and tail feathers of the macaw which might be useful.

Hi Hobble the vulturine is difficult to get hold of and is essential in the elver fly . PJ

You got yourself a bargain there Hobble.

I still don't understand why Ben gave up as he obviously had the best of everything, and his flies are beautifully tied. I bought them all last year, he even included an original Dave Whitlock sculpin and his Go Go Hamster.

I know he loves his barbel fishing, but it is fly-tying's loss. A real talent.

If you're wondering about vulturine feathers they cost about a tenner for ten with most suppliers and I think Steve Cooper at Cookshill is probably the most reasonably priced, but look up the price on any website and you'll see what I mean. As Mark said they're used in the Elver Fly which is a salmon fly. The mandarin duck skin is lovely and will set you back at least £50 so you indeed got a bargain you lucky so and so. The feathers can be used in lots of wet and dry flies. I'd love to have any of those any day so please post some of the flies you tie as it will be nice to see what you create from the gear?
