Default Good cormorant patterns?

One of my favourite flies to fish and tie is the cormorant, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to modify one or if they knew any patterns that were posted on the site of a tweaked cormorant. Thanks

Looks like I need to go and get some materials to have a mess about with then! On the subject, you said 'presuming you're using maribou' - Other than maribou, what else could you use?

Here's a more traditional one...

I tied a cracker a few nights ago using boar hair, will get a pic when I get home.

Hen hackle works well in place of marabou to give a sparser wing although you can use pretty much anything. I like mine to have a bit of movement so stick to materials like marabour, hen hackle and mink/rabbit fur (not on the skin as a minky lol)

Also worth a try mixing colours in your wing to create a more interesting fly. Had a few on this fly last season -

Black rabbit fur, (guard hairs), but then it wouldn't strictly be a Cormorant.

One of my favourites;

Hook: B175 #10 or #12
Thread: Doesn't really matter, usually black
Rib: UTC wire, small, hot orange
Body: Rabbit fur + a good pinch of squirrel
Wing: Mixture of black, brown olive and golden olive marabou
Cheeks: JC splits or sunburst goose biots

And if you really want it to catch a lot of fish, stick some booby eyes on it!!!!
