Default River flies for July & August.

Hi folks,

What will be your flies of choice for July & August for use on the rivers?

Being new to tying I'm wanting to have a go at a few patterns to add to my box.

Cheers

Simon.

If last year was anything to go by tiny black tyings will be a must ,trout got selective late last summer tiny black klinks and gnat patterns were killers, a team of tiny black spiders in the streamy bits did well , sedges providing the late night action . PJ

Olive representations such as Grey Duster, Kite's Imperial etc.

Sherry Spinner fakes such as Poly Prop Sherry.

Sedges such as Nonedescript Sedge (NDS) or Double Badger

Stonefly fakes Philip White's for example and Double Badger

Caenis raft fake such as Lucky Alphonse and used Double Badger

Daddy-Long-Legs Dick Walker's but tied with fluorescent green thread

Soldier Beetle fake such as Red Hackle.

Aphid

Should see you right for the rest of the summer.

Thanks folks, there's definately a few to go on here, I should also add that I'm fishing the rivers around Yorkshire, Calder, Aire, Wharfe & Colne, so I'm sure there's a few here to have a bash at

I've never tried them but looking at the TIEMCO website I'd say they could be good. Click the image to open in full size. Are they reversed or offset or straight? I do prefer a slight offset or reverse to my hooks if possible as they seem to hook up better than straight.
