Default Red ant

Nnother simple fly to tie, useing blue dun cock hackle tips for the wings, I also put one coat of varnish over the body for a more anty look. Not sure where or when is the best time ti fish these, possibly anytime through the summer months. tied on a size 14 grip 14723BL. wanted a red hook for this one but black will have to do.

Thanks steven, eddie and andypandy, there's also another winged version useing starling for the wings and a bronze peacock herl tag which is a bit more adventurous.

Sorry shortea missed that one, just one coat of varnish so might not effect it too much, never fished one before so I'll have to see, but it is a classic pattern so it must have something.....also available in black
