Default Sharpening scissors

One pair of my scissors are getting a bit blunt so I had a wee Google to see what I could come up with to sharpen them.
This is the first clip I came across and to be honest I was horrified by the thought of this!!!!

What do you think, would these techniques work????

All the best,

Just tried the sandpaper and foil methods. As expected no change, still blunt.
I really must try to get out more .

Chris.

At least it didn't blunt them even more

I have a little EZE-LAP diamond hook sharpener (basicly a small file with a diamond face). When my scissors feel a bit blunt I just file them up...you can see the angle of the cutting edges, just make them all equally 'shiny'.

Works very well.

A search on this forum will reveal a thread of about 3 months ago when I was looking for a sharpening service, although I used this bloke's service in the end.

Mike Stanley, Sharp Edge Services, 01454 316 473

He did very good job on a very badly abused pair of C&F scissors that I sent him. I had tried to sharpen them with a eze-lap type diamond sharpener, and made a total hash of the job: I'm quite good with kitchen knives, but the scissors were a task too far, and needed the attention of a professional.
