Default Damsel Nymph advice

This is a Damsel pattern I've been tying. It's taken a few fish for me tied on a #12 lure hook and I'm reasonably happy with it, my question is what could I use for the tail rather than Olive Marabou as it's not quite the right colour.

The Damsel Nymphs I've seen at my local water seem to be a pale straw colour not the Olive green of the Marabou. Any help or comments gratefully received.

Why don't you remedy the problem by dying the marabou to the proper colour? It really isn't that difficult to do. I changed the bright green to the colour of olive I wanted by using Kool Aid drink mix.

Our damsels look like his pattern. What do your damsels look like?

Cheers for the replies guys I'll have to get a few more packs of marabou in different colours.

That's the easiest solution to your problem.

I don't see that there's a problem to solve... the fish that you've caught so far with this pattern have probably been seduced by the movement of the marabou regardless of the colour. Nothing else even comes close to the mobility of marabou, so why change material? 'Right' colour, wrong material will in all probability mean less fish. The colour you are using at the moment is a safe, middle-of-the-road shade, and thefore relatively unimportant.

Fair point. I was just wondering what the alternatives were to marabou.

The alternative would be rabbit, though obviously, it's a shorter fibre and may not suit that particular size of hook
