Default Connamara Black

A fly I have always had trouble with is the Connamara Black. I am not so good at tying beard hackles and wings have never been my forte. I decided I needed some CBs so today I visited the GAC ahead of a trip out on the boat at my local later on today to purchase a Kingfisher Blue cape to use on the pattern instead of a blue jay or Guinea fowl beard hackle. Just finished off tying a couple of CBs and I am very pleased with the result.

Nicely tied Alan it looks good with the blue hackle I do tend to use the blue jay though.

You've obviously got the wing well-sorted! (Or are you holding it together for the photo with a bit of spit?! The fish won't care either way.)

I think I might be inclined to put in a wee bit of black hackle in addition to the blue, to keep it closer to the original, but that's just me. No criticism.

i rarelly take the cb off my cast, imo it's just one of those patterns that i have the utmost faith in.
i tied a few at the beginning of the season but didn't have any black and used peacock dubbing and added jc eyes.it has been a very successfull fly for me and my fishing partner so far this year, brownies and rainbbows.
nice fly again.
