Default Lathkil Fly Fishing Store.

Went along to see Chris at Lathkill today for some more tying bits & bobs, it's the second time I've been along to see him & to say that Chris is top bloke would be doing him an injustice.

Rather than just wanting to take the money out of your pocket he was willing to spend time to show me how to apply dubbing correctly, which dubbing would be best suited to the flies I'm tying & a couple more hints & tips to enable me to get the most out of not just my fishing but tying as well.

If you're around the West Yorkshire/East Lancashire area then you could do a lot worse than to drop by & have a chat with him, a true gent of a man.

Cheers.

Aye Chris is the owner, no idea who you may have spoken to but on both ocassion I've been seen to him I've had nothing but excellent service & more.

You're right about his shop it's a cracking little place, like Mr Magoriums Emporium for fly fishing

Sainty

I was actually going to call in at Lathkill a couple of weeks back, but checking the website the evening before, I wasn't totally sure whether it was actually a walk-in shop or not - excellent website but seemed to focus on online/ postal sales.

will drop by next time the M62 is on my travel plans.

Cheers

Mart

I have recently made some purchases from this shop (online) and have phoned and spoken with Chris a few times; must say I have found him nothing but helpful and utterly charming. We all have 'off days' I suppose.

He has always had what I needed in stock and everything has always arrived with me the following day.

I have a feeling Spider is being ironic or perhaps a bit peeved that Paul Procter has so obviously lifted his peacock cdc asassin and merely stuck a wonderwing on its back , in the recent TS

Not at all Paddy. I thuink others have commented on here before re Lathkill.

I saw both his flies.

Neither are a patch on mine, certainly not the fussy looking one ( i like Pauls articles, but wouldnt fancy tying that thing, and bet i'm not the only one ) and i would put it up to the test any time.

I hope to send out some soon to a few guys, although i reckon its best as an early season fly? That said, it keeps outscoring famous flies like the Klink, and it has continued to take fish every single time i fish it.

Its a brilliant fly , only let down by a slight lack of robustness, but then, its easy to tie more.

I was only ball hopping man, its a bit fiddly for me also which is unusual for PPs patterns , I have tied a few of yours up and find them great especially in 16s I have however made a small amendment in that I tie in a rib of doubled black floss and wind the herl in touching turns , I have done a few with a looped cdc wing which also look nice.
Would have to say that any truck I have had with Chris has shown him to be a absolute gent and well versed on the attributes of his stock, although if you are reading this Chris not all wool floats . PJ

I have had great service from Lathkill Fly Fishing online shop. Very good prices and always delivered next day. Chris phoned me up once to apologise for being out of stock for one item - great service.
