Default Needle flies

Does anyone tye up needle flies or fish with them?
I might try my hand at a couple tonight

I tend to fish a small grey duster or a griffiths gnat with dun hackles, they seem to do the trick, and they have the added advantage of being general patterns - so save some space in the flybox. Look forward to seeing your efforts though - you may change my mind!

Then needle flies i made up last night were 2 inches long
It is a seatrout pattern like a tube fly but tied on a darning needle.
Camera is buggered but i will get a pic up ASAP.

There are some here.

Mate,
This is what I Use:
Click the image to open in full size.
Three CDC feathers. You can leave out the tag (I think it works well in the dull light though).
1. Build the body with a twisted CDC feather, Use two CDC as 'wonder wings' tied flat along the body. Dub a thorax with the bits of fibres from the CDC feathers that you have cut off.
Simples.

I've gone back to tube flies from the needle flies.
I had concerns that the needle wasn't coming free from the sleeve when I hooked a fish and the resulting leverage ended up with a low hooked to landing rate (lost a double figure fish at the net).
When you hook them on the tubes they don't come off.
