Default Blobs

I need some blobs for the Lake on sat' night.
I have some sunburst and hot orange blob fritz, but I was wondering what other colours are worth tying?
I was wondering about hook sizes as well.
I have loads of 15mm straggle fritz and was thinking of using that on some smaller hooks, say size 12.
What do you think?

i think those 2 colours are spot on for this time of year maybe add coral to yer armory or a little mix of those combos ,sunburst and a dash of green, coral n orange, etc i added an organza pearl hackle to front of mine and the fish seem to like it.

I am a bit puzzled by the blobs and maybe someone can help me. My understanding is that they imitate daphnia clusters in the lakes/lochs/loughs and not rivers. If I am correct, are the blobs fished all over the body of water, surface and down deep or just along banks and vegetation?

I tried one this past winter on a river and the blob was the only "fly" that I have used that scared the fish I could see them moving quickly away from it
thanks for any bits of wisdom!

Graham, best of luck to you

yh you can fish em at any lvl and for soem strange reason fish seem to love em and they could be taken as a ball of daphia or maybe more like powerbait lol,but i treat em like any other fly in my box and if they dont want them switch to something else so far ive found em working well after a shower in reaonably warm to mild temps, and lots of ppl use different rates of retrieve i prefer it to drift about, small 6inch pulls or occasioanlly a 2 foot pull, others like to strip it like a speeding comet and that works for them.
