Default my first flies

i just started tying flies last week.

here are a couple of my more successful creations.

i know they are a bit rough round the edges compared to the flies i have seen on here but heres the big question....

do you think they will catch fish? (if fished properly of course)

thanks in advance for any replies.

bob

Good flies for a start, the shipmans could do with a bit more seals teased out but thats a great fly, the bloodworm isn't my normal style of fly but should do damage

Well done! Both look just fine. The hook on the Shipman's looks a bit heavy as far as floating is concerned though. These are 2 of my fave patterns; the Shipmans in the warm months and the red Apps in the colder months, both of these are deadly patterns on their day!
The red Apps doesn't work for me when its warmer, but an orange, olive, black or brown version can often do the biz! Maybe a yellow one too?

Yes,they will both do the business no problem.I like to tie my shipmans with a slimmer body, tapering to a thorax, but im sure it wont make that much difference

all the best Nick

I can only see one fly As already said, damn fine effort with the ship, but probably better off with a lighter hook, and the seals fur ragged out a wee bit more.

The Shipman's is excellent for a beginner & the App's isn't far behind. Well done!
