Default What would catch more trout?

Something with a bit of life, soul, and movement about it.

Hesitate to say, as my last comment on one of your 'winter patterns' seems to have disappeared! Succinct and informed by practical experience by the way.
Anyway, i would prefer a more suggestive pattern. I would never tie that toy on my cast!
Is that O.K.?

People like Graham Owen, Mike Morphew & many others in the U.S. & elsewhere use "realistic's" to great effect. Personally though, I think you'd could be restricted with its casting abilities with the rigid wing, It may also be difficult for a shy fish to "suck in".

neither .........rough and ready is the way ,for me its bloody awful and can not see the point in them when something simplistic and suggestive will and probably does outway catch percentages to Frankenstein above

beautiful tying but i truly don t think it would catch any fish. You need a fly thats imitative not realistic.

I have no doubt that it will catch the odd fish out, but as most have said an imative would be much better.

Even if the thing didn't sink like a brick (I'm not convinced it wouldn't until I see the materials involved) it'd be sheer luck to get a trout to get the hook portion in its mouth without feeling a rather rigid "fly" all around it!

My betting is a Grey Wulff or Shadow Mayfly would pi$$ all over it from a great height.
