Default Soldier Palmer

Hi Guys

Never really tied or used soldier palmers, out hunting wild browns tomorrow so as well as the Clan Chief i thought id try fishing this guy to my cast ...................

I use them on occasions, always work well. The tail and body look pink May just be the photograph or my browser.

The fly looks pink to me. Should be more orange. Nothing wrong with a pink palmer though, still catches fish.

Colour looks perfect to me.
I fish them a lot and on some lochs you will struggle to catch without one on your cast. I usually tie a few up with a couple of turns of hen for the head hackle, these fish well on the middle dropper and tail.

Originally a very old trout fly, probably first tied in the early 1800’s for Scottish Lochs.

Best used as a dropper, this fly often attracts bow -waving takes, giving exciting fishing.

The body wool is definately scarlet.
