Default Heron herl substitutes

Heron is hard to come by as moulted feathers or roadkill here in California. What alternate would folks suggest for replacing heron in a Kites Imperial variant?

Advice appreciated

Thanks

Hugh

Take a look at Canada Goose herl.

Hmmm I use Canada Goose primary for some of my new midge patterns, it isn't the right colour. It's too brown.

Might it be possible to get a white domestic goose feather dyed a slate blue-grey?

Thanks to Cookshill for sorting me out, and to Jindra for a very kind offer, and to RichardW for his guidance on flies to tie for the Derwent! Much appreciated, this is an extraordinarily helpful community.

Best

Hugh
