Default Green Drake request

Been asked to tie up a few "green drakes with feather wings" for a friend. Any chance anyone has a pattern or picture I can use for ideas? Closest I have at the moment is a wulff style fly with feather instead of calf tail?

Many thanks
Dan

This is the traditional kind of green drake fly. I don't like them much - they aren't very durable and I changed to Edie type flies years ago. http://www.theessentialfly.com/trout...trout-fly.html

Use a dyed green drake breast feather as a head hackle. Tie it in by the tip, double it carefully. Two turns usually suffice. You can run a green cock hackle along the body or before you tie in the head hackle. tie in the cock hackle with three turns. This is a good wet fly, quite similar to the gosling of which a poorish example was shown on this page recently. Green raffia does for the body or a slim body of a light greenish fur.
From memory Davie mc Phail on youtube demonstrates how to tie a gosling.
I am off to Melvin in the am to use the described fly. Mind you not too optimistic hear it is still cold and not a lot of movement so far. Maybe it will change tonight
