Default clouser eye paint

Would anyone be able to recommend any good water proof paint to paint some lead dumbells to be used for clouser eyes?

I'll be painting them red with black centres and the paint must be waterproof! I've looked in a couple of hobby\craft type shops and have received blank looks as if to say what an idiotic question. My next stop was to be a model shop (airfix planes and boat kits that most of us made when younger)- where I seem to remember humbrol paints were stocked

Any one able to come up with a tried and tested recommendation ideally available in small quantitities

thanks
Will

Not sure about paint (though enamel sealed with epoxy should be ok) but how about these on ebay 140304804126, plenty of sizes and colours available (do a worldwide search for even more) and the prices aren't bad.

You're quite right about the Humbrol paints, a local modelling shop
should stock them, if not try the 'net or ebay maybe. I used to use the fluorescent colours when I made my own floats in the dim & distance past. For best results with fluorescent colours I'd recommend an undercoat of matt white 1st. though.

Good luck !!!

Hi Will,

You could use pretty much any modern paint or enamel/model paints, waterproof marker (Arkles idea from another thread) even emulsion with a clear varnish over the top.

The trouble is that which ever coating you use, it will only have a limited life.

I do wonder though, if you wrapped the eyes in a red insulation tape, dotted with a black pen or needle full of black gloss, then varnished. May last longer than a paint system, or not.

Hope this helps

Sean
