Default point fly

Looking for a fly for the point of a traditional cast of flies, something with a little zing.

Plan on using it to attract stockie and overwintered brownies. Something along the line of a wee tadpole mini lure. Dont want it any bigger than an eight or ten. Want a touch of weight and debating either a bead or lead underbody????
What do you think guys?
Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Graham

I'd love to tell you, but then again, i wouldn't want you take as many fish out of that little stank as i do, on competition days.

Hi maharg, I had a few on a size 10 cat type tadpole with a yellow tungsten bead & a wee bit of crystal flash in the tail mate, on my club water, i only put it on because it turned into a big wind and I was to lazy to goto my fastglass, but the brownies were geeing It a skelp every now and then, plus I started to bang them on the muddlers again...

simple but did the job on the day...

If you're fishing something slowly on the top, (like a Sedgehog), then a wee pulling buzzer seems to work for both stockies and residents.
3 or 4 strands of something sparkly for the tail and then a strand of the tail fibre wound over a thread body on a size 10 or 12 grub hook. Cross that with fine silver wire and finish with JC cheeks and longish sparse hen. Works for me

Billy
