Default Guinea Fowl

I have the opportunity to buy a bag of different coloured guinea fowl feathers, being a bit of a fly tying/collecting nut, I am wondering what flies could I make with them, wets', drys', lures?
Not at all sure and would really appreciate any advice from more knowledgable members.
Thanks in advance,
Keith

Looking good! How did they fish? How does it behave in the water? Is it like a hen hackle with lots of movement or more like a cocks hackle.
I have never tried it but would like to.

They are have soft fibres, more suited to wets, lures and salmon and seatrout.

The Loynton Guinea is a highly rated lure, but uses natural guinea fowl rather than coloured.
Lures :: Loynton Guineas - Trout and salmon fishing flies online
Maybe worth a try as front hackle on several lure patterns such as the humungous etc.
The blue dyed hackles are often used as a sub for blue jay and tied as a beard on the Invicta, Dunkeld etc.

The main problem with Guinea hackles is that the fibres are to long for winding on trad trout flies. One way round this is to tie in a bunch of fibres so the length is correct and pointing over the eye, rolling them round the shank next to the eye,. Tie the rest of the fly, then pull the fibres back and wrap thread up to them to force them into a backward sweep. Form the head and whip finish.

Mancyfly
the link is very interesting and has sprung up a few idea's
Ive used the g/foul feathers on nymphs as the front hackle(or what ever its called) pulling the feathers so they are shore as in your post and they work really well.adding a bit of colour to a plain old hairs lug etc .

There have been lots of good ideas from members and the pictures of completed flies are not only excellent but thought provoking, thanks to all.
