Default Yet anothet newbee question - quality of lureflash tools

Hi,

I've decided to take on fly tying.
After some reading I think I will start with buying the basic tools and the materials for the patterns I want to try (trout patterns).

About the tools, I need to buy them from the same place t0 minimize the shipping cost to Belgium.

I think the following would be decent tools from lureflash,
but if you have positive or negative experiences, please let me know.
Or is there a better place/tools in the price range?

I've decided on :
1. Rotatable regent vice
2. Ceramic bobbin holder
3. whip finish tool.
4. hackle plier
5. dubbing needle

These araavailable at:

Your input is appreciated as frankly, I am ovewhelmeed.

Thanks and cheers,
Dimiter

The tools you mention are all of Indian/Asian origin. so virtually any materials supplier will be able to supply similar/identical or better ones.

Please use the search tab in the top bar, for more info on fly tying kits etc, as this subject has been very comprehensively covered in the recent past.

Looks ok but as above there are choices. Makes sense to up the budget a little if poss.

I can vouch for the regent vice. I had one for my first year tying. Sure not as swanky as some but hey it does the job. I bought it second hand and it served me well, passed it on and now someone else has a start-good basic vice.

Thing is with cheap tools you will end up replacing them; usually at the most inconvienent time. Be sure they only fail at the weekend .
You could save time and in the long run money by looking at The Flytyingboutique tool set for 49.95 for example. A comprehensive kit that will not let you down. Nothing worse that struggling with cheap tools. I did and I'm sure plenty of others did too. It's a breath of fresh air to get some decent tools. If I had my time over and knowing what I now do, I would not hesitate to buy such a kit. It's worth it if only for the Dr Slick/Matterelli type whip finisher-the Lureflash one looks a mare .

Chris.

Thanks Chris,

I will consider the tools you suggested, they certainly look better.
I am also considering getting a weaver vice instead.
Just not yet sure which one,

Thanks and cheers

The Weaver one would be my choice & by a very significant margin.
