Default Dabblers for this bright weather

With all this hot bright weather and having a session on Llandeg due this week, I decided that I needed something orange in my armoury, as I have done well on this colour in bright conditions before. Not wanting to use lures however and having been insprired by some excellent dabblers shown on here, I decided to make some, although I wanted to keep them fairly slim as Diawls seem to do well at Llandeg too.

Hook - B175
Thread - Black
Body - Gold Micro Synergy Fritz (Fiery Brown)
Tail - Tippets
Hackle -Orange mallard

Then I decided that maybe something slightly less bright but still with that flask of orange might be more easily received by the fish so went for the understated orange dabbler

Same dressing as above but with a bronze mallard hackle on topp of the orange one.

If I'd had some jungle cock I probably would have added some but being a relative beginner I haven't built up my materials collection much yet.

I am interested in all constructive criticism whether it be the tying, the pattern, the photography, whatever, please feel free to let me know what you think.

Oops, my apologies. I posted them and checked they were there, then organized my Photobucket folders without realising this would affect my photos posted on this thread. Doh. Never mind all sorted now and looking forward to your comments.

NIce pattern W.O. Well thought out. Should nobble a few for you in this bright weather.

The first pic is by far the best, and the best tying too. The mallard is still a little too long though for your average, or standard dabbler; only by a couple of mm though. Also, it looks like you're adding mallard as a throat... way too heavy and too long on the other flies - try and get them all like the top one - just few few fibres underneath will look and work better. Aim for a 'cloak' over the top, and a whisp of a throat below.

Photo's - again, top one is best all round. Take care to get everything square on to the camera plane in all 3 dimensions. It will look better, and you'll have something to go off when you make adjustments to you focussing and depth of field. Lighting needs to be more consistant, although you've done a decent job on some of the shots. Keep the background clear of distractions... I only want to see the fly, not your tool caddy or fag packet! Nice to see you have given the fly space to breathe in your final crops (some background all around the fly), nothing worse than chopped off tails and hackles.

P.S. A dabbler should have a body hackle
