Default First ever trout on home made fly!

Managed to nail three est 3lb Rainbow yesterday at my local fishery, caught them on a size 16 "Black Knat" type thing I'd made that morning (after a few unsuccessful attempts lol) the fly was wrecked after mind, but I was pretty chuffed with myself, and it made standing there in the evening cold wearing only a pair of shorts and a tank top just about bare-able.

Can you guys remember your first ever trout/fish on a fly you had made? and which fly?

Matt

I caught my first fish on a fly I'd tied myself just last weekend - a small stockie rainbow on an olive damsel, nice feeling

That is a special moment. Well done, you will never forget that.
I don't remember my first trout on my own fly, as it was a long long time ago, but I remember my first fly caught trout. It was in the Drakensberg mountains, with my late father in 1975, at the tender age of 14.
Both my sons , aged 14 and 12, still have the fly that they caught their first fish on, as well as their first self tied fly that caught. Each has a framed photo, with the fly mounted behind the glass, with the date and the location.
Very special... it's what good memories are made of.
