i like the look of the first one best but would be interested to know how 2 and 3 fish/ sit in the water

It sits quite low resting on the hackle which leaves a healthy looking footprint. The bend of the hook hangs bit like a klink but not as severe.

tonyt: no I've not fished either of them yet, this morning was the first time I tied them and number 2/3 the first time I tried that style. They are both going for a dip in the river Windrush tomorrow evening .

Gus: The loose loop was created by making a furled hackle as in Ian Moutters Imitative Fly Tying book and relaxing it a bit.

Thorax: Peacock herl
Tail: Longer fibres from HD cock hackle

General Emerger:

Hook: Grip hook 14723BL size 12
Thread: Pearsalls-Jasper
Body: Hairline Micro Fine dub-BWO grey/olive
Hackle: Whittings Farm brown cock
Thorax: Pinch of hares ear dub
Rib: Fine gold wire
Post: Lureflash polyprop floating yarn
