Default What buzzers are working for you right now on the reservoirs?

Some tough fishing on Bewl yesterday. Baking hot and, for the most part, dead still. 3 fish only to buzzers on a Di3 line. What buzzers are working for you guys? I'm assuming most of the naturals would be Grey Boy midges.

(Guys were loading up on the damn wall dropping boobies to the bottom and then slowly winching them up but for me that just isn't fly fishing.)

Sz14 skinny black buzzers, various patterns with or without Krystalflash shucks/breathers or with goose biot cheeks have been working for me. Often with a Blob or Cat's on point to pick up the stockies too.

I used to fish Bewl a lot from a boat when i lived in Kent ( only lived down the road in Paddock wood ).Mooring up off chingley wood was a productive area in this weather,as for patterns i also found skinny buzzers and a attractor on the point to be the best method

Over here I had good sport with this one, fished over shallows on a long leader and a floating line:
or to paraphrase Mr. Henry Ford: The trout can have a buzzer any colour that he wants so long as it is black.

The tie:
#10 Kamasan B160 Hook
UNI 6/0 Thread black
UNI 1/69" Mylar Pearl for rib
Orange stretch floss for wing buds
2 - 3 layers of clear varnish

Cheers!

J.

Cheers guys. Neil, that's where I was yesterday for the most part. I was fishing size 10 buzzers. Probably need to go smaller.

Thanks Jindra. Nice looking fly.

Other ideas?

Yesterday was hot and a flat calm and I was fishing Grafham.

How do you think it fished?

Awesome

I had 20+ fish on a Midgetip line with 4 black crisp packet buzzers, all fish came to either the bottom dropper or the point.

Yes boat fishing, the quality of the fish are superb and a fair number of the resident trout are starting to show.

If you have some spare time over the next couple of days then Grafham is offering some great sport.

Thanks for feedback - very tempting - do you know how the bank anglers are doing and any news on the shrimp?

Hi Steve

That area has always been good to me in the past, not out in the main bowl but just round the corner as you go into Bewl straight.Other good places
were Beaumans point ( dead opposite chingley wood ) and around Bryants inlet were the cages are,oh and Ferry point.Try going smaller with your buzzers,i used to sometimes fish a large buzzer on the point with size14 diawls which got results in hot weather.Failing all that you could try bobbing around in the main bowl with Di7's boobys and blobs
