Default Feather ID please

Walking along the riverbank today I found this feather along with half a crows wing and some pigeon tail feathers (not altogether by the way), if anyone knows what bird its off I'd be interested to know. I initially thought partridge but I have a partridge skin and none of the feathers look similar. It's just over 2 inches in length and very soft fibres.

cheers

mark

Its certainly not from the wings if it is Irishflies as I have some and no feathers match, it also seems too big and soft for a woodcock feather, but I don't have the rest of the woodcock to check it, but thanks anyway, you could be right.

It's a hen pheasant wing covert.

You could be right arkle thanks, these are some hen pheasant feathers and it looks similar to the bottom right one.

Don't really use much HP apart from the centre tail and wing quills, so not really up on the rest of them, wonder what I can use it for....

It looks like a pheasant feather to me. I'm certainly no expert mind.

About the only use for them is hackling large spider type flies, of which there aren't that many.

Benig that it was found on a riverbank, I think it's more likely to be a Hen Mallard breast feather. Take a closer look at the mixed bag here Mixed Feather Bag, Medium There's an identically marked feather in the bottom right of the bag.
