yes, for river too, trout, chub. I use this fly with dry, intermediate and sinking fly lines too.

Hook: DOHIKU 302 #10
Thread: Fly DK 80 Brown or Cinammon
Tail: Eagle Owl
Tip: Spectra Dubbing - Pearl or Orange ...
Body: Red Fox Aquirrel - Thorax Blend Dubbing from http://www.performanceflies.com/
Body Hackles: Whiting Herbert Miner Hen Cape - Brown
Rib: Gold Flat Tinsel (or Silver)
Hackles: Partridge
Wing: Eagle Owl
Head: UTC Thread - Red

Having seen an Eagle owl in action, I wouldn't fancy trying to take the feathers off a live one! But having seen that very trouty looking fly, I'd be tempted to give it a go! Good tying there.
