Nice flies Andy. I'm not a sea trout fisherman yet but fancy tying some flies in case I do go. What have you used for a hairwing?

The hairwing is Arctic Fox. I have found it alot better than bucktail.

They'll do the job nicely Andy.
Similar to some I've been tying recently.

Nice flies but have you considered a longshank for those top couple of hairwings? Might stop them coming short.

The reason I had asked is that I had tried to get black squirrel tail to try but the shop was sold out and said try bucktail but I found that it flares out when I tie it in, so was looking for something else to try. Will see if they have Arctic Fox in stock.

They should be really effective especially the picric ones, particularly like the 2nd and 4th ones.

The picric hackles look stunning. I would definitely use that spider on any river for browns as well. And for sea trout which are shyer to bigger flies which can be caught on sized up trout flies, very nice, and tight lines and let us know how you get on.
