Default Para hoppers

I confess I tend to neglect dry flies, its a confidence thing having not used them a great deal when I started fly fishing on the reservoirs a couple of years ago. But this year I am determined to give it a bash. To that end I've tied up what I hope will prove to be some tasty morsels.

What do you reckon, will they do the business? These ones are on s12 hooks.

I would prefer a polyprop post, but they look deadly!
As for the confidence issue, try them on a dropper to hang a buzzer on the point. Or use on the point with a small buzzer/bach/spider on a dropper about a foot or so above to help sink the tippet. Drift on the breeze, inch it back, or just static. Some go for the 'nymph', some go for the dry, depending on conditions.

Thanks, out of curiosity why the preference for polyprop? I do have some but i dont think its very good, it looks different to the stuff most people use being completely straight, so I think its probably unsuitable. Might investigate getting some decent stuff if I can see a benefit to using it,

Cheers

I have used some small booby foam eyes for hackle post. Just cut a taper on one end and tie this to the hook. Once hackle tied in just cut foam down to the hackle. I only used it to see what the effect would be. Turned out more than okay. Not so good for small flies though.

After a few casts, the polyprop will not be straight, it will be kinda fuzzy and crinkly. In fact after tying it in and winding the post turns, it flares out anyway.
I just find that Watershed treated polyprop floats a lot better than foam, and its easier to see at distance.
